Meanwhile, Back at the South Pole

Jiller the Elf was beside herself. This doesn't mean there were two Jiller the Elves (Jillers the Elf?), but that she was getting frustrated with the situation. While she was grateful for being rescued from affectionate penguins, she was having a hard time convincing her rescuer that she was who she said she was.

Tyler the Scientist was not beside himself. He was right where he thought he was, at the South Pole studying penguins. However, the person he was talking to was not making much sense at all.

"Let me get this straight," he said again to the person who called herself Jiller. "You're an Elf from the North Pole?"

"Yes," said Jiller.

"And you're here to find another Elf named Elmo?"

"No," said Jiller. "I'm here to find an Elf named Waldo."

"Because Waldo is actually Santa Claus?" Tyler asked.

"Well..." Jiller said, and sighed. "He's not exactly Santa," she explained. "He's Waldo on the outside, and Santa on the inside."

"And then you're going to take him back to The North Pole, and someone named Gonzo.."

"Gizmo," Jiller corrected.

"...Gizmo," continued Tyler, "who will swap them back to their correct bodies, and then Christmas will be saved?"

"Exactly," said Jiller. "I'm glad you understand."

Tyler laughed. "I'll help you find this elf," he said, "and then I'll put in for that long vacation, because I've been around penguins for much too long!"
