Race for Gold Medal in the Luge

Will it be Dasher or Comet?

[Race for Gold Medal in the Luge]

The Reindeer Games continue! Today we have the gold medal race in the Luge, where Dasher and Comet will race in the final round. This will be the fourth gold medal awarded at the games. So far, three gold medals have been awarded: Comet won the Speed Skating event, Blitzen won the Ski Jumping and Dancer captured the Figure Skating competition.

Ok, it’s out to the Luge course, and our very famous host Jim McSnowflake Elf!

“Thanks guys! We are here at the luge track built so fantastically by the Elves for the first-ever Luge event at the Reindeer Games. Yes, this will be the first gold medal in Luge ever at the Reindeer Games. And the great fans here at the North Pole have come out in force. It’s packed here at the Luge track, thousands of good folks from the North Pole have made their way out to see the final race!”

And what a race it will be! Comet and Dasher are shining up their sleds and warming up their limbs, getting ready for the big race. As our fans know, the Luge is a very small sled, in which the reindeer race very fast down a very slick track made of ice and snow. Comet will go first today, and then Dasher will follow. The Elves have their super-duper special timing watches ready, and the deer that posts the fastest time wins!

Ok, Comet is at the gate and ready to go. And Comet is off! Comet’s off to a great start on the upper part of the course. Comet’s heading through the turns at great speed, yet under control. Comet’s showing great skill! Swerving right and swerving left and right and left! But making great time.

The fans along the course are on their feet and cheering wildly! Comet’s through middle part of the race and now heading for the final straight-away. Comet is staying low and staying strong, and the sled is moving at blazing speed. And Comet’s near the finish line, and now Comet’s across the finish line in great time!

The fans are loving it! A great ovation for Comet. Comet’s time is 19.2 seconds. That’s a great time and will be tough to beat. And now it’s Dasher. This is the final Luger of the Games! Dasher can win the gold by going faster than 19.2 seconds. If not, then Comet wins the gold! This is it!

And Dasher is off! Dasher is moving well through the turns. Left and right and right and left. And then through the middle part and now the final straight-away. Dasher is blazing through the course, and the fans are going wild!

And Dasher is across the finish line in great time! And the Elves are checking their official watches. What will the time be? Will it be fast enough? Will Dasher win the gold? The Elves are ready, and the official time is 19.1 seconds! Yes, it’s a gold medal for Dasher! The fourth gold medal of the Reindeer Games goes to Dasher in the first-ever Luge competition at the Games.

We’re halfway though our competition now, and it’s been a great show. And there are four more events to go: the High Jump, the Around-the-World race, the Snowboarding competition and Cross-Country Skiing. Check back tomorrow for more exciting competition at the Reindeer Games!
