Back to the Pole for Around-the-World Gold

Welcome back to this year’s Reindeer Games! Today, we have the final leg of the Around-the-World race, which is the sixth event of the Games. And it’s been a very good race so far!

Yesterday, our famous reindeer reached the Panama Canal, the famous waterway separating the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. And now the reindeer are heading through Central America, and then to the United States and Canada. And finally back to the North Pole!

It’s been a challenging final journey for the reindeer. But Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen will have an even greater journey on Christmas Eve when they lead Santa’s sleigh all over the world, hoping to bring joy to millions of children everywhere! And they will be ready!

And now let’s head out to our very famous host, Jim McSnowflake Elf. Jim, what’s happening in the race?

“Thanks guys! Well the deer have made their way over Panama and the Canal, and are heading through Central America. The reindeer will be over every country there, and the Caribbean too! That’s Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, before a swing eastward toward the islands of Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico! And then back westward toward Mexico. What a race it’s been!”

And then finally to the United States. The Reindeer will cover all 48 states and then on to Canada, Alaska and the North Pole. “And now the reindeer are very close to the North Pole!” says Jim. “This is the final stretch run!”

The finish line is set up just outside the Ice Palace. The local fans have packed the streets and iceways of the North Pole, and are ready for the finish. The fans are eyeing the skies, looking for the reindeer, as they make their final approach. Where are they? Are they close? It’s shouldn’t be long now.

“And there they are! We can see the reindeer from the North Pole now!” says Jim. “Oh my, the race is still close! All eight are bunched up very close together. It’s going to be a good finish!” Heading toward the finish line, it Cupid in the lead, followed by Donder. Now Dasher takes over followed by Prancer. It’s antler to antler! Now Dancer has the edge, but Vixen is right there. Just one mile to go! Who will win the gold?

Coming down the stretch, it’s Comet in first place and Blitzen in second. It’s anyone’s race!

And across the finish line, it’s very close! Very very close! Who will take the gold?

Across the line, it’s Prancer in first place! And Blitzen is second! Prancer wins the gold in the Around-the-World race. Four days of racing, all over the world, and the difference between the reindeer is but the length of a few hoofs!
