Chris fidgeted, trying to free himself from Toby's grasp. But the elf held him so tightly that the little mouse didn't stand a chance. Toby pinned Chris to the rocket and wrapped the rope around him. But when he looked away just for a moment, Waldo approached with a pair of scissors. With one quick snip, he cut the rope, freeing the mouse.
Chris picked up the rope attached to the rocket and tied its other end to Toby's ankle. When Toby found the matches, he turned around and lit the fuse. The fuse began to crackle, igniting the gunpowder. With a gleam in his eye, Toby waited for the rocket to take off together with the annoying little rodent. But instead of Chris, the rocket pulled Toby with it.
Eek!
The rocket began to fly uncontrollably, knocking down everything around. When the elves saw it coming, they shouted, "Down!" and jumped for cover. Bouncing from wall to wall, the raging firework flew out the window.
"Help me to get down! Help me to get down!" Toby cried out as he twirled, zigzagged, and whooshed through the air.
The elves watched Toby winding around, tied up with a rope. The frenzy rocket rumbled and roared, sped towards the starry sky, flew through the clouds, and then Kaboom!
The residents of Santa's village admired the fireworks lighting up the starry sky with glittering colors. Blazing, dazzling, and vivid colors shattered into thousands of sparks. Making magnificent shapes, the fireworks were so bright it almost felt like daylight.
"Wow," the elves sighed in admiration. "It is truly spectacular."
Where will Toby end up? Find out tomorrow, ONLY on the North Pole Times.
