The snow cushioned Toby's fall as he landed on the hill. All the elves came running to help their sulky friend.
"Don't be so grumpy," Waldo said. "Every bad situation has something positive."
"What on earth is positive about falling into the snow?" Toby fumed.
"Well," Waldo smiled, "you can stay right where you are because it's playtime!"
The elves exclaimed and ran around stomping on the snow. They started with a snowball fight by throwing them at each other. Then they built a snow fort, decorating it with pine cones and colorful pebbles.
"Look, guys," Waldo shouted, holding a long sharp icicle, "I made a sword!"
Cool, the others were delighted.
"Let's make a snowman!" Someone suggested.
And when everyone agreed, they got to work. The elves rolled two snowballs and placed them on top of each other. They used a carrot as a nose, buttons as eyes, and twigs as Snowman's hands. Waldo wrapped a scarf around Snowman's neck and placed the pot on Snowman's head.
Ta-da!
The elves continued to play, making snow angels and snow footprints. They climbed up the hill and sledded down over and over again. They giggled and laughed as they bumped into each other at the foot of the snowy bump.
All the elves were enjoying the snow and having a great time, except Toby. Toby had other things to do. He was coming up with a plan to catch Chris Mouse. With the help of a wooden stick, he sketched the trap in the snow.
What did Toby draw in the snow? Find out tomorrow, ONLY on the North Pole Times.
