Reindeer Games: Figure Skating Begins!

Rudolph Judges as Elves Help in the Workshop

So far, we’ve had four exciting events in this year's Reindeer Games, with four gold medal winners: Prancer in the High Jump, Cupid in the Long Jump, Dasher in the Sprint Race, and Donder in the Around the World Marathon.

The competition has been a hit with everyone at the North Pole, and the reindeer have been nothing short of magnificent, demonstrating the strength, speed, and skill that will be needed for the big Christmas Eve run.

Today, the reindeer are ready to kick off the Figure Skating competition at the Hoojamawazit Skating and Ice Cream Palace. But there’s one small problem: the event is missing its judges!

“It’s tough to have a figure skating competition without judges,” said Rudolph. “How will we know who’s making the grade, so to speak? What are we going to do?”

It turns out that the elves are busy in the workshop, working around the clock to ensure all the toys are ready for delivery on Christmas Eve. With so many extra hands needed in the toy-making process, there simply aren’t enough elves to judge the competition.

Postponing the games isn’t an option. The Great Eight reindeer need to stay in top form, or they won’t be ready to fly Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve. And that means the games must go on!

“No, that won’t do,” said Rudolph. “Speaking for all reindeer, we must stay at our best for Christmas Eve. And that means the Reindeer Games must continue!”

After a quick discussion among the reindeer, Rudolph had an idea.

“How about I judge the Figure Skating competition?” he suggested. “I know the rules, and I’ll do my best to be fair.”

And so, Rudolph moved from his commentating position and headed to the judge’s booth, ready to keep the Reindeer Games on track.

At that moment, Vixen, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, Prancer, Dasher, Dancer, and Comet took to the ice for the first round of the competition.

Each reindeer performed the “compulsory” program — a set of tricks that all skaters must perform — while Rudolph judged the routines.

The first round was a success! Each reindeer performed wonderfully, and the scores were extremely close. Tomorrow, they’ll return for the second round, the “short program,” where the competition will continue and Rudolph will be ready to judge again.

Check back soon to see what happens next!
