The skating continues today at the Reindeer Games with the first round of the Speed Skating competition at the Hoojamawazit Skating and Ice Cream Palace. Yesterday, Dancer took home the gold in the Figure Skating event, and now the Great Eight Reindeer are gearing up for their next challenge — the Speed Skating finals!
The Palace is packed with fans, eager to see the reindeer race at top speeds around the icy oval. To help keep up with the lightning-fast action, many spectators have brought special slow-mo glasses, knowing that the reindeer are so fast, they can barely be seen in real time!

And they’re off! The reindeer take off from the starting line with incredible speed, leaving the crowd in awe. As they race around the track, Rudolph comments, “Every deer is moving so fast, I can’t even tell who’s in the lead!”
After the first lap, it’s clear that Comet has taken the early lead, with Blitzen hot on his heels. Behind them are Dasher and Dancer, just inches apart, and then Cupid, Prancer, Vixen, and Donder, who are all closely grouped together.
The race intensifies as they move into the final lap, with Comet and Blitzen maintaining a slight lead over Dasher. It’s neck and neck as they head toward the finish line. The crowd is on the edge of their seats, waiting for the thrilling conclusion.
And… whoosh! All the reindeer cross the finish line within milliseconds of each other, making it nearly impossible to call a winner on the spot. So, we head to the super-slow-mo video machine to check the results.
After careful review, we can confirm that Comet, Blitzen, Cupid, and Dancer are the top four and will advance to tomorrow’s final round!
The race is heating up, and only one more gold medal will be awarded. Be sure to check back tomorrow to see who claims the sixth gold medal of this year’s Reindeer Games!
As a public service, we’re working with NORAD Tracks Santa to share the magic of Santa’s journey around the world—and let you know when he’s headed your way.
