On Thanksgiving, Santa Claus and Waldo Elf were blasted into orbit aboard The Santa Shuttle, an unfinished spaceship! While they are safe, they can't land yet. Santa is using his Wow-wee-whipper-do computer to communicate with the North Pole. The elves are working hard to figure out how to get Santa back in time for Christmas!
Toy-making Takes Time
Despite everyone's efforts, toy-making at the North Pole has become super slow. "We’re okay with some toys like teddy bears, dolls, and baseballs," said Toby Elf during a break at the toy production line. "But these new high-tech toys with circuits and whingies take forever to make!"
Toby showed off a table with tiny little dots moving around. "These are micro-elves," he explained, placing a big magnifying glass over them. "They’re busy building video game components. They’ve been working non-stop, but they can only go so fast!"
Through the magnifying glass, hundreds of tiny elves could be seen zipping back and forth over shiny silicon wafers. "We can’t leave the glass over them too long," warned Toby, "or they might catch on fire!"
Checking the Toy Count
In the finished toy room, Adamup Elf was busy checking the presents already made. "I won’t have the final numbers until tomorrow," he said. "But I’m pretty sure we’re nowhere near where we should be."
How far behind are the elves? And will it matter if Santa gets back from orbit before Christmas? Will he have any toys to deliver? Keep reading the North Pole Times to find out!
